Scott was diagnosed in May with stage 3 throat cancer, which had metastasized to three lymph nodes in his neck and under his ear.  The location of the node under his ear was in an inoperable location so he had to undergo what the oncologist described as one of the hardest treatments a cancer patient has to endure.  He also had injections of a very volatile chemo drug combined with 7 weeks, 5 days per week of powerful radiation to his neck, throat, tonsils, base of his tongue, and up into his sinuses and postnasal areas.  The skin on his neck was badly burned from the radiation as was all the organs and tissues in its path.

During the treatment and beyond, Scott suffered significant throat pain, and multiple other complexities which cause him to rely on constant care of his family.  He has a long road of recovery ahead of him and will likely suffer from permanent loss of taste, permanent hearing loss and extreme tinnitus as a result of his treatment.

As of now, Scott does not know the results of the treatment.  He will find out if the cancer was eradicated when he has a follow up PET scan in November.

A diagnosis of this magnitude causes hardships far beyond health concerns.  Scott remains out of work as he begins his recovery and there is a growing need for financial assistance.  Please join me in helping a brother in a time of need.
