Scott Gross Family

Donation protected
The Marmion Academy & SCN Youth Wrestling programs are attempting to raise money for the "Scott Gross Family" which will  aid the Gross family with a variety of expenses including funeral, education and everyday life. Scott was the sole provider for his family.  He and his family were/are very strong supporters in the wrestling community and funds are needed to help his family move forward through this difficult time.  We ask that this Go Fund Me page be shared through the wrestling community not only in Illinois, but with the wrestling community around the country.

As some of you may know, on Monday, November 26, 2018, our community and family unexpectedly lost Scott Gross, age 53.  Scott left behind his childhood sweetheart and beloved wife Judy of 33 years.  They have 5 children; Brian (Karalyn) Gross (with a baby on the way-surprise); Brent (Jackie) Gross and their children, Brayden and Hailie; Rachel (Stephan) Jennings and their son Eli; Brad Gross and Grace Gross.  He is also survived by his parents, Ralph and Marta Gross; two siblings: Mark (Nikki) Gross and Kris (David) Wick; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a countryside of friends.  Although Scott loved the outdoors and everything that came with it, he was never happier than when surrounded by his family.  Whether it was around the kitchen table, campfire or in the stands at a wrestling event cheering the loudest, family meant everything to Scott.  He devoted his whole life to give his family a house full of love.  The shadow of his loss will loom large, but the lessons he taught will shine forever.

A portion of the monies raised for the "Scott Gross Family" will be used to help pay for the funeral expenses which was nearly $10,000.

Another portion of the monies raised for the “Scott Gross Family” will be used to offset the educational expenses of his two youngest children, Brad and Grace Gross.  As many of you may know, Brad is a member of the Marmion Academy varsity wrestling team. He is now in his senior and final year of high school.  Scott and Judy made numerous sacrifices in order to enroll Brad at Marmion Academy, which included moving several times in order to satisfy the Marmion Academy residency requirements.  Their selfless sacrifices and willingness to provide the best opportunity for their family afforded Brad the opportunity to enroll and begin his high school education at Marmion Academy.  These sacrifices came at a price though, as Scott and Judy significantly changed their living style, moving from a 40-acre farm with a spacious residence, to a much smaller home inside the DeKalb city limits situated on a standard city lot.  Monies raised will also help offset the cost of allowing Brad and Grace to attend college and pursue higher levels of education.

The remaining portion of the monies, which are needed as soon as possible, will help the Gross family with the everyday living expenses that Scott was responsible for through his profession.  These expenses include mortgage, utilities bills, vehicle expenses, insurance, and the litany of other common living expenses every family encounter in their everyday living.  Judy is currently trying to find employment, but help is needed immediately.

Scott’s wife Judy is the executor of the "Go Fund Me" page and she will be responsible for dispersing the monies raised.  There are also a group of friends helping consult her on every day issues and will continue to do so.

From our Marmion Academy and SCN Youth Wrestling families, we cannot thank you enough for your help and support for the Gross family.

God Bless!
