Scooby's Leg Surgery

POV: You love running. You do it every day. You and your best friend spend all your time outdoors, hanging with other people and getting exercise constantly. You have the happiest smile, and the most energy anyone's ever seen. Life is better than good -- it's exhilarating.

Scooby is a ~2yr old mixed-mutt rescue from LA who loves running into freezing rivers, tackling new friends who look like they need a hug and going on 4+ mile hikes.

Scooby's owner, Aracely, moved from LA to Philly a year ago for a job opportunity. She never leaves Scoob for longer than a day or two — they are best friends for life. But when she went to visit her friends from home for a quick 2-day visit, she came back to find Scooby limping around.

Scooby is a young, athletic mutt. He knows how to care for himself, whether running past hikers or swimming laps in a river. I've never seen Scooby tired out (well, there was one time he ran 3 miles with me on a packed beach day, then took a short 1-hour nap and sprung right back into action).

But he tires quickly now just from walking around the house. The vet told Aracely that surgery (with a 4mo recovery time) would cost $6500. Otherwise, it's unclear if his leg will ever heal.

With Aracely and Scooby practically stuck together at the hip (she loves him so much), a quick recovery for Scoob means a speedy recovery to everyday life for Aracely. A life with their favorite hiking spots each weekend (low 20-degree weather is NOT something Aracely is used to in LA). Getting outdoors is key to maintaining happiness, which they can't do with Scoob's bum leg ), playing with other dogs in the dog park (he's under house rest currently) and getting frequent walks in.

We're all experiencing crazy medical costs in this country, and dog surgeries are no exception. Please help us pay for Scoob's unexpected surgery and get him back to a fun doggo lifestyle. All $6500 raised will go directly to vet costs.
