School Scholarships

Through our church, Iglesia Cristiana Viviendo en Amor y Fe, we have been working with a group of youth (ages 10-19) called the Jovenes Sembradores de Paz (Youth Sowers of Peace). Within this group we are trying to give youth who come from challenging home situations opportunities to lead, serve, learn, and grow with love, support, and accountability.
One of our initiatives this year has been to provide small education scholarships to the teens in the group as a way to help their families cover school expenses and encourage the youth to stay in school. In February, our church was granted funding to provide education stipends to 20 teens from the group for a period of 5 months. We have already seen kids change their minds and decide to stay in school because of this initiative. As we started rolling out the program, we identified 6 additional teens from our group that we felt were really in need of this extra assistance if they were going to make it through the school year. Evan and I committed to raising the funds needed for these 6 kids to be enrolled in our educational assistance program.
A total of $380 will cover the amount needed for the 6 additional kids to receive the monthly scholarship for the 5-month period. We’ve set up this in page in case any of you would like to partner with us in providing these 6 kids with an education stipend. Any amount that you would like to donate will make a significant difference in helping us meet this goal.
