Mission Kakossa

Please join us in raising funds to build a school in a remote village on the island of Kakossa.  Kakossa is an island in the West African nation of Guinea.  Schools are rare or nonexistent. ( 80% of adults on the island didn’t go to school ).  Sadly, the literacy rate is 30%.   Because of this, the poverty level is 47%.  In comparison, the US poverty level is 14.5%.  

I was part of a mission team that spent 8 days in Guinea. We witnessed this poverty, the lack of education or schools, even the lack of clean running water and electricity.  

Education is required to combat these conditions.  The people recognize that without it, poverty will remain.  They want and need our help.   



The people of Kakossa live well below the poverty level, as do most people that live outside the capital city, Conakry.  The people on the island are hard working farmers and fishermen. They live in villages without the most basic of services.  Most homes are mud huts, their bathrooms are holes in the ground, and their water source is hand dug wells or low places where water may collect.  They do not have electricity or plumbing.  Medical Facilities are no where near them. 




We would like to start by funding a school project in the village we visited. This school project is already planned out.  We already have the land. A modest school building and a well / tank is needed. It only requires funding.  Please join us and help fund this school project.  

We are Conowingo Baptist Church in Conowingo Maryland.  We are working with James Khanu, pastor of Eglise Baptiste de Guinea, a church in Conakry Guinea.
