Scholarships Africa

In 2014, I was accepted to study abroad at my dream college in the United States with a partial scholarship and almost lost the opportunity because my family couldn’t afford to cover the almost $25,000 needed for my educational expenses and a transatlantic flight from Lagos Nigeria to Salt Lake City, Utah. Due to money being tight, I gave up on studying abroad and enrolled in a web design and development program at a local college in my town.

Eventually, word got out about my predicament, and my study abroad dreams were made possible because of generous contributions from friends, extended family, local businesses, and individuals in my community. I arrived in the United States in the spring of 2015 to promptly resume school. Looking back, I have always thought about how lucky I was and I wanted to someday help people, like myself, find funding for their education and skills training.

As someone who has first-hand experience with how grassroots resources can change not only individuals but the communities in which they reside, I started putting my education and web design skills to use. I recruited volunteers and we’ve been very successful at helping dozens of people like Saidu, currently studying business at Brigham Young University – Idaho on a fully-funded scholarship through the Hall Foundation program, and David currently studying multimedia and creative designs at TWIM Institute in Ibadan Nigeria on a fully-funded apprenticeship program through a community initiative grant.

In recent months, we've seen an increase in demand for our services as a result of the economic fallouts posed by the global coronavirus pandemic. We've welcomed this challenge as an opportunity to grow and have started working on expanding our reach. To meet the demands of helping even more people, we decided to start - a mobile and web-based platform that connects African scholars with local and international scholarship, apprenticeship, and internship opportunities.

I’m asking for donations to help complete the development of so we can continue connecting bright African scholars with individuals and organizations ready to help. All donations will go towards research and development, web-app development, server expansion, creating online courses, and expanding our network of local and international partners.
