The great pig project!

Tax deductible
Help us to build brand new enclosures for our pigs, goats and horses to give them a safe, warm forever home!

Our pig, goat and horse enclosures have lasted well but were only ever meant to be temporary when we moved to our sanctuary.  We've done all we can to fix them but now they're beyond repair and desperately need replacing.  We've had to stop taking in pigs and goats due to the enclosures, so if we can raise our target we'll be able to take more animals in.  The great pig project is definitely our most ambitious project yet!

Pigs

We've got almost 40 pigs at SCAR at the moment but their shelter isn't suitable any more and the fencing isn't as secure and safe as it could be.  We want to build a brand new enclosure for our pigs with 3 separate smaller enclosures to separate any ill or vulnerable pigs who need extra TLC.  As cute as they are pigs are very clever and can be very destructive so we need to make sure that the fencing is pig proof which will be our biggest expense!  We'll also be purchasing several recycled plastic pig arcs which are not only environmentally friendly but will last for years to come.

Goats

We've got five goats at the moment who are looking forward to their brand new home.  They're free roaming at the moment with a shelter to keep them warm and dry but they're a little mischievous and like getting themselves where they shouldn't!  Our new goat enclosure will come complete with tall enough fencing (to stop the escape artists of the group), their own goat climbing frames and nice warm new goat pens to shelter from the rain.  Having a new pen will mean that we'll be able to take up to 20 goats at a time, so we'll have lots more space for new friends.

Horses

By changing our plans for layout a little we think that if we hit our target we can also replace our most in need horse fencing - some of which is stopping us from using good enclosures as they aren't suitable for keeping our horses in anymore.

Building

Here at SCAR we keep our costs as low as we can.  We recycle everything we can and come up with creative ways to use everything that is donated.  We do all our building ourselves which means that we only need to raise the costs for the materials - although the specialist fencing we need is so expensive we'll never be able to do it on our own.

If you can support our fencing project in any way we'll be incredibly grateful, and of course keep you updated with plenty of photos along the way.
