SC Broncos Memorial Monument

The Bill Lee Golf Tournament is pleased to announce the near completion of the Swift Current Broncos Memorial monument site.
This project began in 1989, and was revisited in 2012. We are raising funds to erect a monument to remember the four hockey players tragically lost during the terrible bus crash on December 30, 1986. These four Swift Current Bronco boys and their families deserve something better from us as a community, rather than driving by a field of grass and bad memories.
A landowner, Teresa Balza, was kind enough to donate a piece of property on the southwest corner of Highway 1 East and the Merivale Nursery turn-off.
We are seeking $20,000 to support the completion of this project. Currently, we are levelling, grading, paving, and landscaping the monument site. There is still a lot of work remaining (ie - parking, signage, lighting, landscaping).
This monument will also become a point of interest along the Trans Canada Highway where folks Canada-wide can stop to pay their respects.
We would graciously accept any donation amount, and will honor those providing $1,000 or more with recognition on the monument itself.
