I, Russell Dalgleish, am organising this fundraiser with the help of my son Jamie and his girlfriend Rachel.
I first became aware of Aarti and the Sakhi project a couple of years ago and was impressed by the passion and vision shown to change her environment for the better. Since then I have been nothing but impressed by the drive, vision and belief Aarti and her supporters have shown to bring support to young girls living in India's slums.
When Aarti approached me and made me aware of the Audio Storytelling project, which aims to help 5,000 young girls, I knew I had to help. As a man living in Scotland, I can have no understanding of the conditions these girls must live in but I wholeheartedly believe in Aarti and her goals.
I want you to join me in supporting Aarti but I also want to make this a challenge where you can see me sweat. A 109km run around my childhood home of the Scottish Borders I'm sure you'll agree sounds suitably challenging.
