Carmen GDV Surgery

Donation protected

Hey friends.

My sweet Carmen had to go into surgery the night before Thanksgiving for GDV, or “bloat”.  I am grateful to have noticed the signs right away, and took her immediately to Friendship Animal Hospital where they conducted emergency surgery to correct the stomach torsion, perform a gastropexy, and remove her spleen and a large mass from her stomach. She is currently recovering in the hospital and all signs point to her getting better!!

Some of you know her story— she was horrifically abused by a backyard breeder and found pregnant, bleeding, and in need of surgery in rural TX before being rescued. She has come through so much and is the sweetest doggie you can imagine.

Of course I will spare no expense when it comes to Carmen’s health, but having this hit during the pandemic on a holiday has been a big whammy. I am matching all funds up to $8,500, and anything that is raised above that will be donated evenly between Friendship Animal Hospital and the rescues that took her in: NavaDog Rescue Ranchito and Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue.

The total for her surgery is likely to exceed $15,000:

$12,000- $14,000 for surgery and hospital stay of three days (total cost still TBD)
$1,500 for aftercare medication and follow up vet visits
(additional costs if cancerous cells are found in her stomach, which we are hopeful for).

If you are struggling, PLEASE KEEP YOUR MONEY. Carmen will be cared for no matter what. But if you are in a position to help out, anything you can contribute will be incredibly appreciated.
