Saving Jacob

IN SHORT: After being kicked, Jacob is in need of immediate lifesaving surgery costing $7,000. I have been able to get together $3,500 of my own and borrowed finances and am asking for your kind support in raising the rest to help save Jacob.
Jacob’s Story: It is with much sadness that I am writing this... when I first met Jacob it is safe to say I was not a ‘cat person’, but Jacob needed a home and I was in great need of some company. We soon became inseparable, he would follow me everywhere, even to the local shops. Everybody who meets Jakey instantly falls in love; he is THE coolest and most affectionate cat you will ever meet, and never fails to put a smile on your face no matter the weather. He loves his life laying on the grass in the shade, chasing butterflies and snuggling at the end of the bed at night, but today he is a very unwell fighting for his little life.
He has recently had to have his tail amputated amid concerning circumstances when he returned home injured and skinny after being missing for days and at a cost of $1,400. Once he was mended and presuming it was a freak accident, we tentatively let Jacob outside again. However, 2 weeks later after a day in the sunshine, Jacob returned for his usual dinner time showing serious signs of discomfort and would not eat.
After scans, the vet told us that his organs have all been pushed out of place through a hole in his diaphragm and was very concerned about the way these injuries must have occurred, believing they are a result of being kicked. He will not survive without having this surgery and tough conversations about the possibility of putting him down have been had.
Thankfully, if and when Jacob is able to return home, he will not be going back to this same neighbourhood, so whatever sick person may be messing with him will no longer be able to do so. He will become an indoor cat for as long as needed and will only be let outside again if we are confident in the surrounding area and while wearing a GPS tracking collar.
A large part of me feels very uncomfortable asking for this money, however, Jacob was there for me through a particularly tough time in my life and I know I need to do everything in my power to save him... plus, the amount of go fund me campaigns I’ve supported over the years, this is me cashing in mine :)
