Help Romeo walk again!!

Hello everyone! My name is Sylwia and I have an adorable 4 year old shih-tzu mix named Romeo. Romeo has been a part of my family from his very first breath. He lives at home with his birth mother (Molly) and father (Niko). He was one of six in a litter and we knew from the start we'd keep him for ourselves. He's always been a healthy and energetic pup but we got a big surprise for the new year.

Unfortunately, on January 1, 2014 Romeo began dragging his left rear leg. At first I thought it was just a pain in his foot, but I soon came to find out that he has a spinal injury and will need spinal surgery to fully recover to his original happy self. He now drags both legs and refrains from doing much of anything. He no longer has total control of his bowel and bladder functions and he lays around most of the day.


I currently only have two options: holistic treatment or surgery. Romeo is currently being treated with cortisone shots and pills to ease his pain. I do not have the financial means of getting this surgery done as it is roughly $6,500. I have exhausted all of my funds on his holistic treatment (acupuncture, laser treatment, medication, etc.) which does not seem to be much help. The only 100% recovery treatment is surgery. I am doing anything and everything I can to raise money for his surgery, but being 23 and a student, it is hard with all my expenses. I refuse to give up on my baby and let him be put down. THAT IS NOT AN OPTION!! I will carry him for the rest of my life if I have to. We are looking into getting him a doggy wheelchair, which won't bring his motor skills back but will make him mobile again.
