Saving Brody's Life

Hey everyone,So this past weekend I went home for Memorial Day to see my family for the first time in 6 months. And what was supposed to be a sweet trip, had a bitter beginning and has been an emotional rollercoaster ever since. Our family dog, Brody, was acting strange for a few days before I arrived. He wasn't playing, wasn't eating, and wasn't going to the bathroom. When I got there, he wouldn't even look at me to say hello (he's usually the first to greet me). He's only four years old, so we knew something wasn't right. My mom and I took him to the vet and as soon as we got there, the nurses were concerned and immediately rushed him to the back. After a vet visit, a trip to the pet emergency room, and admitting Brody to the hospital for 4 days now, we have learned that he has IMHA, Immune mediated hemolytic anemia AND ITP, Immune thrombocytopenia. Basically, his body is attacking his own red blood cells and platelets, requiring multiple blood transfusions, hard core steroids to suppress the immune system, nausea medicine, IV fluids and ICU care for 5-7 days. Typically, if an animal has one of these diseases, it is more easily treated, but both makes things a bit more complicated. The doctors feel strongly, and it seems as though, he's finally turning the corner and with a bit more treatment, he can pull through this. As you can imagine, these treatments come at a pretty high cost, and for us to be able to continue to save his life, we need help. To put it into perspective, one blood transfusion costs $900, and after we are able to bring our little buddy home, he will need ongoing treatment for the next 6-8 months. I know this ask is not ordinary, but if you know Brody, you know that he is extraordinary. He's my little brother's cuddle buddy, and the other's best friend. He's my moms 3rd little boy (and the only one that doesn't drive her nuts). He's our family, and we're devastated and don't want to lose him. If you can donate anything at all, we would be forever grateful. My parents do so much for me, and I know that they can't financially afford to keep the treatment going for much longer.
