Saving Dexter (FIP)
Yesterday my baby boy Dexter was diagnosed with the dry form of Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). The vets told me that he has only months to live and that this disease is incurable with nearly all cases being fatal.
I am devastated and cannot bare the thought of losing my boy and want to do whatever I can to help him.
I have come across a trial drug that is being used mainly in America but with some owners also using this medication in the UK. It is however extremely expensive and is not guaranteed to work but has a 85% success rate on the cases tested so far (since 2017).
I want to trial this with Dexter and my vet is in full support of this trial treatment. We have nothing to lose and currently Dexter is not suffering and has a much higher chance of survival if we act fast.
As this drug is not readily available in the UK and is on trial, I cannot claim the expense of this medication on my pet insurance which is why I am calling for financial help. The cost is likely to be around £5,000 depending on dosages required which I am enquiring into now.
I would be eternally grateful for any donations and support to help me with Dexter’s journey.
