At 3:57pm on Friday we received the phone call every parent fears: our daughter and her small Subaru were entangled in a head-on collision with a Ford F250. The firefighters and paramedics who arrived on the scene to save her life and airlift her to the hospital couldn't extract her using the tools they had in their arsenal, and needed to build them from scratch. They are our heroes and she is our miracle.

Under the protection of angel wings alone, Savie's brain and internal organs are not damaged, but her facial and extremity injuries are extensive and severe. She underwent immediate emergency surgery and will face many more surgeries and long-term therapy in the coming days, weeks, and months. The accident happened on the other side of the state and keeping her mom and dad by her side, while ensuring the greatest of medical care, is our top priority. Her road to a full and complete recovery will be long, but this girl is strong, brave, beautiful, and determined.
