Help Save Pretty's Leg

Donation protected
Shortly after midnight on the morning of October 1, the Regina Humane Society 24 Hour Animal Protection Officer responded to a call of a dog in distress who had been hit by a motor vehicle. A young chocolate Labrador Retriever mix that could not stand was found at the scene.  She was rushed to receive immediate veterinary care to manage her pain as well as perform x-rays to assess her injuries.  Her x-rays confirmed multiple fractures to her leg which was splinted by RHS Veterinarians to stabilize the injury.  Consultation with surgeons at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon sadly confirmed that surgery is mandatory to save her leg.  With the surgery, her prognosis for recovery is excellent.

At just eight months of age, Pretty has her entire life ahead of her. Her sweet soulful eyes are windows to the kind and gentle disposition of this young dog who, despite her terrifying experience, splint changes and examinations, has remained patient and loving with her caregivers.

The reality is we can’t help Pretty alone. The cost of her specialized surgery, transport, medications, after care and rehabilitation is considerable – upwards of $5,000.  After a long and challenging year treating and rehabilitating homeless injured pets in need, we simply don’t have the funds available in our Faith Fund to help her keep her leg.

We are reaching out on Pretty’s behalf to our supporters and the community to help. In a world where so much seems impossible or out of our reach to change, we can change the future for Pretty. We can give her the chance to run again, to play with her future family and to be healed.

Any donation, no matter the amount, will help. In return for your donation, we promise to keep you updated on every step of her journey through recovery and onward. We know it’s a lot of money. But we can only save her leg with your help and we need to try.

Any money raised in excess of the goal will be used to help other animals at the Shelter in need of extensive veterinary care.

The Society receives no government funding to assist animals like Pretty and relies solely on its community of donors to continue this important work.

All Canadian donations will receive a tax receipt from the Regina Humane Society.
