Save Evan's Eyes!

Donation protected
My husband, Evan, started losing his vision when he was 17 years old.  Later he was diagnosed with
Retinitis Pigmentosa  when he was 22 (10 years ago). This diagnosis explained the loss of vision he was experiencing and gave little hope as UCLA doctors explained that there is no cure and he would progressively lose more/possibly all of his sight.

At the start of 2018 he was living with almost no peripheral vision and tunnel vision in the center of his eyes. He hasn't been able to see the lower part of anyone's face for about 5 years.  His sensitivity to light and dark is extreme and when he is subjected to a camera flash or a bright light it takes his eyes several minutes to re-adjust. One of the largest problems with is vision is night-blindness. He has ceased to drive after dark and can see little to nothing in a darkly lit room.

We started dating shortly after his diagnoses and I have been so humbled and impressed by his hopeful and faithful spirit. He has climbed as many mountains as possible (literally and figuratively), we have moved across oceans and states, he has been going to school full time as he works full time. He has continued to sing worship and has taken what could have ruined him and allowed it instead bring him closer to God and closer to people. He sits with the broken hearted, he reaches out to the homeless. I have seen him show immense patience and love to so many people, as well as myself.
He chose to see as many sights as possible and live to the fullest until all sight was gone.

Everything changed when we were introduced to a friend who also has Retinitis Pigmentosa. She had undergone special acupuncture that actually has helped to restore some of her vision! She went from not being able to drive at all to seeing well enough to drive again! We were so excited to hear her story and so hopeful for Evan. He has done one round of acupuncture in San Diego for 8 days after which he saw tremendous improvement. Now that we have relocated to Washington state we have learned of another treatment center in Vancouver, Canada at which he has done 9 days of treatment in the month of January and during/after he has seen such vast improvement that the doctor believes that his vision will be close to normal in about 1 year and 3 more visits to the clinic.

It will cost around $15,000 for treatment for the rest of the year.  That includes acupuncture, herbal supplements to support vision, and lodging in Vancouver.

(If anyone reading this has RP and is interested in this treatment, please feel free to reach out to us with any questions!)
