Saving Chanel's Kidneys

At the age of 9, my niece, Chanel Buenconsejo is now trying to save her kidneys. A few days ago, she was diagnosed with Vesicoureteral Reflux (VUR). Normally, urine flows from the kidneys through the ureters then into the bladder, but with VUR,instead, urine flows back into the kidneys from the bladder. The cause of VUR is typically from birth, where the connection from the ureter to the bladder didn’t form normally when the child is growing in the womb. VUR is usually detected during a routine ultrasound, but unfortunately, it wasn’t caught in my niece’s case.Bacteria in the kidney can lead to damage over time, which may eventually lead to kidney failure. If we don't treat this condition, her kidneys can overtime enlarge and lead to kidney failure. Now she is hospitalized and is set to undergo surgery to reimplant the ureter into the bladder.

This is where I need your help. We need your help to cover Chanel’s hospital bill of P201050(PHP), which is equivalent to $5500. Her mother Heidi, lives in Chicago, but her daughter is in the Philippines going to school. Unfortunately, the Philippines doesn’t have a reliable health system, and if you are admitted to the hospital, a downpayment and the whole bill needs to be out of your own pocket.

I understand we are all living in rough times, but with your donation, we are helping a future engineer, nurse, or scientist that will help propel this world into the right direction. Chanel deserves a chance to become the woman she wants to be. She’s a bright young lady, with charisma. She can carry a conversation with adults, and is loved by everyone she meets. It would hurt to see Chanel not follow her dreams because of a condition that was out of her hands. Please help us save Chanel’s kidneys.
