Save Vivian’s home
My name is Vivian. Five years ago I bought a four bedroom condo with the rest of my residential school money. A bad real estate deal because I live alone and didn’t need such a large place. The condo needed repairs that I found out after buying it. I quickly became house poor. Hydro bills and condo fees became too much for me. I took out pay day loans and other loans to stay afloat. Attempts to sell my unit fell apart. There is another attempt to sell the building in the works. I need to catch up on my condo fees or pay off my loans. If the building and my unit sells, I could walk away from a bad real estate deal with nothing. Whatever equity I have will go towards my debts.
My fundraiser is to pay off my mortgage or to simply pay off my condo fees. Pay off the lion or the mouse. I prefer to pay off the mouse.
I bought my condo with the thought that it would be my safe place where no one could take me away. A childhood fear from residential school and foster homes. Instead my safe place became a trap and a financial burden. Hopefully I can walk away from burden. Even if it means I have lost my residential school money in a bad real estate deal.
