Save Tiny Tyger!

Donation protected
Tyger, a rescued Pomeranian,-Shitzu- Maltese mix was born on March 3rd, 2019 in Hell's Kitchen, New York, weighing 3.8 oz. He was so much smaller than his four litter sisters that his mother did not attend to him or try to keep him alive. He was too tiny and weak to nurse. His body could not regulate its own temperature.

Tyger's current owner, Edie, was a bystander, a close family friend who stopped by to check in on the newborn puppies. She stood and stared down at this little speck of pup, less than half the size of tennis ball, barely breathing, and knew she could not just sit back and let him die. Nobody knew quite what to do. Dolly, the owner of the whelping Mom, all the puppies and four other dogs, who has considerable health problems of her own, was overwhelmed at the prospect of caring for this little puppy alone. Edie took Tyger into her home.

For eight weeks she and Dolly took turnstube then bottle feeding every two hours, keeping him warm, tending to him like any high needs, premature infant. Edie works full time running her own small business, yet she kept Tyger with her 24/7- and she and Dolly shared "shifts" caring for him. To say they bonded is an understatement. Edie and Dolly have cared for him as diligently as any doting parents.

When Tyger hit the 16 week mark, weighing in at 1.5 lbs, able to bark and play a little bit, Edie discovered that he has a cleft palate in two places, as well as two holes in his liver that require a shunt.

Yesterday, October 29, Tyger had the comprehensive surgery and the cost is $3,200.00- a financial burden that Edie and I discussed at length. She is able to handle his health care going forward, his check up and health care maintenance, which will be considerable going forward.. She loves this pup enough to commit to his care for the rest of his life. What is staggering her is this surgical bill. Tyger was aspirating food into his nasal passages and choking every time he ate. The surgery was absolutely necessary. He will have the liver surgery, another $1,000.00 when he is healed from the palate surgery, in 8-12 weeks.

100% of the proceeds from this GoFundMe will go to The Animal Medical Center, Dr. Carmichael, on 62nd Street and York, New York City.

When you donate $100 or more, you get a homemade cupcake, a glass of sparkling water or champagne and your picture with Tyger in a special Instagram Photo Booth set up JUST for him and you. There will be several dates for this photo op scheduled, closer to the spring, as he is in healing mode now and cannot have too much excitement.

Any help you can give is vastly appreciated by Tyger and the many people who love him. Thank you!
