Save The Static Age Patio

We here at Static Age Records work hard to provide an extensive, curated selection of vinyl to learn about new and different music, and a safe and reliable space to throw events and support the local and touring scene of musicians that keep our city alive. Our priority has always been to give back to the community that has supported our space for the past 19.5 years, but with such a business model, these sudden costs are a massive blow to our finances and we need help!

We need to raise $7,000 ASAP to pay for the first annual permit fee of $4,500 and the remaining $2,500 will go towards drafting a licensed engineer's schematic to the new city standards, materials to build, and the labor needed to build the improved space.

For years Static Age has dreamed of having an outdoor space to accompany our storefront and in 2019 we started the process of applying for a permit to acquire the space from the Asheville City Government but were met with red tape, roadblocks, and obstacles.

After the national economic shut down during the initial Covid outbreak in March 2020, we were able to construct the patio in front of our record store thanks to the temporary reforms made by the ACG to make it easier for businesses to have outdoor parklets to support social distancing and open air business. Jesse, Sophie, Dan, Michael, and Jason poured months of planning labor into this project over the cold and snowy winter between '20 and '21 while navigating shifting standards set by the ACG during a very tumultuous time in order to provide an open air environment for our intimate venue space.

Whether it's enjoying a drink on a sunny day while shopping for records or being able to watch one of our events in the open air, our patio has become integral to the experience of our friends and family, new and old, and it's hard to imagine what our space would look like without it now. This little space has brought so much life and enjoyment to everyone who has had the pleasure of coming by and we sincerely want to keep offering it to those who would benefit from it the most: You!

The ACG has been gracious with our deadline around applying for our "Streetery Parklet Permit" but we are nearing the end of our grace period and want to submit our schematics for approval ASAP.
