Help save the south coast koalas
Donation protected
Koalas on the NSW south coast are threatened with forest dieback associated with dry weather and drought. Koalas usually get all of their water from eucalyptus leaves. Unfortunately forest mismanagement has led to the situation where leaf water content reduces, during dry weather and drought.
To survive these periods koalas need other water sources. This campaign aims to provide 10 water stations for koalas and cameras to record visitation.
Ideally there would be up to 50 stations and if 10 can be achieved, 20 will be the next goal.
It is now very dry on the south coast and without significant rainfall koalas will die and these genetically distinct koalas could become extinct.
Acting now to address the threat could prevent this outcome and help other animals survive the extreme consequences resulting from forest mismanagement.
Should the campaign reach its goal the water stations will need to be maintained. This will probably take an hour or two each fortnight and a laptop computer to download photos. Please contact if you may be able to maintain a water station, occassionally or regularly.
