This development could poison wells on 43 streets - and our public water.
A developer wants to blow up the 200-million-year-old trap rock ridge at the eastern entrance to Canton.
To build a 20-pump gas station.
He wants to blast, excavate and drill 6 days a week, for 15 months.
Next to the Swift Chemical Superfund site. Near an aquifer.
What could go wrong?!?
Our experts have proved there’s a risk blasting will contaminate wells – and public water from Connecticut Water Company. It could make wells go dry. If that happens, the developer said, just “drill another well.”
The developer wants you to think he’ll build an EV charging station. But when asked when gas pumps would be converted to EV chargers, he said, “Not in my lifetime.” It’s a ploy to distract from what this really is: a quarry operation and Texas-sized gas station.
We need your help to fight this.
We, the residents, are the only ones who can protect ourselves against a developer with deep pockets and shallow regard for our health. And he’s counting on the fact that he’ll be able to outspend us.
