Save the FV Moriah

This is the fishing vessel Moriah. She is a wood hull fish tender built by WR Menchions of British Columbia in 1942. We purchased her in October, 2020 and are raising money for her refurbishment as soon as possible. She is currently moored in Wrangell, Alaska. Here are some of the great things that would happen as she is fixed and after...
*A piece of history would be preserved and used for its intended purpose - the tendering of salmon.
*Local people in Wrangell, AK would be put to work. From fixing current engines and replacing seized generators, to interior wood work and hull corking the Moriah's refurbishment would bring money to Wrangell - a town that is home to several thousand people, Pacific Seafoods Group and Trident Seafoods.
*During the refurbishment we would hire two friends to come help and this would benefit their families.
*Upon completion this vessel would provide income, as a tenderman, to my husband Eric and our family. Eric has been commercial fishing and driving boats since his teens and also tendered for many years. In 2017 he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and has since not been able to work. It is our dream for him to fish in Alaska again and the FV Moriah will bring us closer to that end.
*Upon completion the Moriah would also stimulate the economy of Wrangell by providing fresh fish to Pacific Seafoods Group cannery.
*Eric and I are deeply in need of a "break". After several unfortunate events that involve replacing the same engine 3 times and a boat sinking tied to the dock we are disheartened and broken. Refurbishing this boat would be a crowning accomplishment for both Eric and me. After working as a deckhand, engineering and captaining crabbing boats in the Bering Sea as well as seining in Southeast Alaska and gillnetting Puget Sound, he understands what needs to be done to make a vessel like Moriah a functioning tender. I have some carpentry skills and I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty or work hard. We are very excited to meet Moriah and bring her back to life.
*Funds would be used to repair and reseal deck, finish RSW system, replace main and hotel generators, fix seized main engine, recork bottom of the vessel while in dry dock, repair and repaint the entire vessel, repair four main holes/leaks in the engine room, replace electronics.
