SAVE SOUTH AUGUSTA MERCHANTS MART

A small group of local entrepreneurs make up the new  and unique South Augusta Merchants Mart.  Nestled in a diverse little plaza in South Augusta Georgia; we were just starting to see potential customers peering through the tall tinted glass windows and peeking their heads in through the door with that "What is going on in here?" look on their curious faces.   Once inside, comes the "Awww, this is nice."   Which amounted to music to the ears of all of us newcomers to the world of entrepreneurism. The lobby is inviting you to shop, plan a cruise or rent a U-haul truck.  So much diversity!  So different from the usual clothing boutique with it's predictable styles.  The hallway is lined with colorful and artfully decorated mannequins.  In the first little shop you will find a wall of Paparazzi jewelry and tastefully chosen new and gently loved women's apparel.  Shop #2 displays hair care products and wigs.  Shop #3 is where you can order T-shirts for your upcoming family reunion.  In Shop #4 get a relaxing back massage from a certified massage therapist; and did I mention there's also a professional eyelash technician.  We have a 500 sq. ft. clothing boutique and shoe store.   And what clothing mall would be complete without its own fashion design shop.   January 2020 was a bright new beginning  and we were all just getting cranked up in our new Merchandise Mart with fresh and new ideas as we each embarked on an exciting and adventurous journey into the world of sales, marketing and creation; when in Mid-March along comes COVID-19 and the lockdown!   Little did we expect to be away from our businesses literally for more than two months!  Everything came to a standstill; the Monday night line dance classes, the TOPS weight loss support group, the discussions of opening a little lunch counter for the plaza.   COVID-19 not only ended careers, dreams and hopes, but in a big way it ended lives!  Many lives!
