For the last 17 years, at Simply Circus we’ve created a space where anyone can learn and experience the magic of circus arts, regardless of experience level or ability to pay.
As a nonprofit, at Simply Circus we have never EVER turned down a student who wanted to learn but couldn't financially afford to. What we offer is more than circus; our community of volunteers and instructors have also provided tutoring, certifications, trainings, and an opportunity for leadership.
Right now, Covid-19 is threatening the livelihood of many small businesses, including our studio. On March 16th, we decided to temporarily suspend in-person classes to look out for the safety and well-being of our clients. Since then, we created some fantastic online classes, facebook tutorials and circus interviews for the community to pass the time while social distancing. Our work hasn't gone unnoticed- the American Youth Circus Organization featured one of our videos !
Now, we need YOUR help to survive and continue to introduce circus arts to the community.
We applied for small business loans like the PPP so we could continue to pay our expenses. However, we no longer have cash to pay for rent and utilities, so we’re asking for $7000 to help us weather the next 2 months until we are hopefully able to resume in-person programming.
If we can find the financial means to survive, we plan to:
- Expand free online classes
- Start a prop rental program
- Launch experimental Teen Initiative projects, including teaching Zoom classes, creating DIY projects, and collaborations
We have put our hearts and souls into Simply Circus this past year and we hope to be able to do so for many years to come. We firmly believe that circus humans are some of the most resilient, ambitious, and creative people in the world, and no matter what, we will do everything we can to keep you and your children’s spirits alive in this time of crisis.
