Everyone hears the horror stories of cancer- but it really hits you when it’s so close to home. My baby sister, Shelli, is fighting for her life against Ovarian Cancer. I need your help in order to help her!!! Please.
Can you imagine the stress of physically fighting for your life, while being unsure if you can even afford the treatments? That’s the boat she’s sitting in, and I want to be able to help her as much as possible on the financial side. Her efforts should be focused on her physical and mental fight ahead.
Medical diagnosis -
Shelli is only 26 years old, and was diagnosed with PCOS 2.5 years ago. Essentially, one of MANY side effects, is that it causes her body to develope cycsts on her ovaries. These cycsts turned into Ovarian Cancer in 2015. Without insurance, she was able to set up a somewhat affordable discount through her doctor at the time that owned a clinic. While it was still extremely expensive, she managed. Unfortunately, that option is no longer available, and everything from this point on is strictly out of pocket. When first diagnosed, she had 7 cytst that were cancerous and underwent 8 rounds of chemotherapy via IV infusions.
Sick is a gross understatement for what she went through after each round. The constant body aches, extreme vomiting, searing head and stomach aches, so weak she couldn’t leave the bed on her own, mouth sores... I could go own, but you get the picture. She also endured side effects you don’t hear about in movies... massive memory loss, and of course the mental/ emotional strain from watching most of her hair fall out, while what remained became a frizzy, crisp straw. All while fighting to stay positive and beat this deadly disease.

She was notified last week that the cancer is back. Moving forward, she has a few options, but none of them come cheap.
It’s awful and unfair that anyone should have to endure this, but worrying about money during this time is even worse.
