Save Pelican Point, Grand Bahama

Donation protected
Pelican Point is a small Township on the East End of Grand Bahama.  It is a place I have come to love over the last 10 years.  The people are friendly, helpful and strong in their faith.  Locking your door there is an afterthought and crime was never a concern.  There was one church, one restaurant, and roughly 20 homes.  The restaurant is gone, the church has no roof, most of the houses are gone or severely damaged, and they even lost their water tower to Hurricane Dorian.  Most of the residents of Pelican point and much of the Bahamas do not have insurance to cover their loss and in many cases have lost everything.

I am concerned that a place as small as Pelican Point will be overlooked and forgotten in the recovery and could possibly never be reestablished which is something I cannot bear to see.  Therefore, I am doing something that I have never done before which is to ask for people’s help in saving this jewel of a community.  The money will go to,

·         Clearing the rubble.

·         Repair roof and other sources of water penetration in any home worth saving.

·         Helping to rebuild the homes for those that cannot afford to.

·         Moving the mountain of sand back to the beach.

·         Replanting some of the trees and other plants that help holds the land in place.

I plan on working closely with the leaders of Pelican Point to determine the best way to use the money to save the township.  Any help will be greatly appreciated and put to good use.  This work is urgent so please consider helping the people of Pelican Point.
