Lebanon: Help 3yr old get cancer treatment

"When people think of cancer, they think of death. This is what I don’t want to think of when I look or think of my little daughter Khadijah." 

"I feel like there’s a gun pointed at me and I never know when it will fire.  Khadijah, my 3-year-old daughter was diagnosed with blood cancer for the second time."

Many several symptoms appeared such as body temperature raising, abdominal distention and bruising on her body. We did a biopsy test and unfortunately she has blood cancer. She underwent chemotherapy for 6 months and the results showed she is cancer free However, when we did a check up 5 months later, the cancer had come back. 


She is in an urgent need for bone marrow transplantation surgery.

After three tissue matching tests, we found that I, her mother, is a 60% match. This means I am eligible to donate my tissue to my daughter. 


In order to significantly increase the odds of a successful transplant, she needs to have very costly injections prior to the surgery. 


As you may know, there is a huge financial crisis in Lebanon - 3rd most catastrophic in the world right now. Our currency has devalued by 85%. This means many hospitals are unable to afford to import some of the necessary supplies. The injection my daughter needs is one of them. 


We can import the injection from Turkey or Germany but it is roughly $5000-8000 per injection. 


We need to raise $25,000 for her life saving injections and needles. 


This is an unbelievable amount for our family, particularly in a time when unemployment in the country is 70%, and even those employed, like my husband, have had their pay drastically reduced. He is getting only 50% of his salary now which, with skyrocketing food prices, is hardly enough for us to feed and house our family.


We are relying on the support of total strangers to save our beautiful daughter’s life. Without you, her fate is death. But we are believing, hoping, and staying strong in this unbelievably difficult situation. Will you please help us?

- Khadija will get her treatment at the Zahraa Hospital in Lebanon and the surgery will be at the AUB hospital in Lebanon.
