Save Miami Mike and Augie's Home

I am a lung cancer survivor. In 2013 I started feeling latent side effects from the chemotherapy I had in 2006 including severe peripheral neuropathy in my legs and feet. I also have pronounced shortness of breath with slight exertion and even during a long conversation I get winded. I also suffer difficulty swallowing food, medication and liquids. In July 2016, I almost fell at work several times. I no longer was able to perform my job. I resigned due to my declining health. I went 4 months with no income. I had some savings and those were exhausted very quickly. I receive a nominal pension from my 28 years of service at Jackson Memorial Hospital in MIAMI FLORIDA. It's not enough to cover my monthly mortgage payment. I am now 4 months behind and receiving frequent notices from the mortgage company. I'm waiting for a decision from Social Security Disability and have a lot of doctor appointments to document and verify my disability claim. I'm afraid of losing my house in the interim. Our kitchen is half renovated after the ceiling fell in. I cannot afford to finish the repairs because of lack of funds. All income is used to pay utilities, food and medical expenses. Any help that you feel you can provide is greatly appreciated by myself and Augie. It's going to be at least 4 to 6 months until I get a determination from Social Security. I just applied for food EBT benefits and MEDICAID. Hopefully I will get these benefits before they are cut by future legislation. My only other course of action is to sell all of our household possessions and allow the mortgage company to foreclose. My house is under water financially and even though I have paid off almost half of my mortgage, I don't have any equity and will lose our home.
