Save Magical Merlin's Leg

Donation protected
Hi my name is  Merlin.  I've had an interesting life . When I was a puppy I was forced to live in an unheated garage during the winter for many hours or sometimes days until someone would come to feed me. I learned to escape and would go next door and the man that lived there would bring me into his house with his two young dogs and fed and cared for me. After sometime I began to live with him all the time and I was so happy because I also got a brother and sister and we are inseparable. I'm a energetic boy , my daddy says ,  I'm a bit too energetic. Because of this energy I jumped off a porch and hurt my leg. My daddy says I need to go to the hospital to fix my leg but I have to wait a bit until he can get something called money. I love playing with my brother and sister and I hope that very soon I can have my leg fixed and begin playing with them again.  My daddy wants to talk now, so thank you for listening to me.  Merlin is 5 years old in February 2020. Merlin dislocated his leg from his elbow or technically he has a luxation proximal radius. The estimate for his operation is from $2000- $5900.00. The lower figure is if the surgeon can manually pop his joints back into place without surgery and the high number is if the manual procedure does not work and surgery is needed.  I rescued  and adopted Merlin when he was less than a year old . His former owner had to deploy to Iraq and left Merlin with his them girlfriend who didn't want him in the first place. She would keep him in the garage for 12-14 hours a day while she would go to Nashville and spend time with another boyfriend. Merlin learned to get out of the garage , thus is the reason I gave him  the name Merlin, I thought Houdini would be a bit much for him, and he would show up on my front porch  and cry to get in and I would feed him and let him stay with me until the girlfriend came home. One day she didn't return for a week and I decided to keep him and the girlfriend, once she finally returned home,  gave him to me immediately with no hesitation. I offered to adopt Merlin and she agreed that he would be in a better home with me. Merlin is in a pack consisting of  an older brother and sister, Caesar and Marley, and they are inseparable.  Merlin injured his leg when he jumped off an unfinished porch while playing with his siblings. I took him to my vet but they do not have the expertise to deal with this type of injury. So they recommend that I go to MedVet in Chicago it is an emergency care center for animals. Thus their prices are higher than a regular veterinarian. Merlin is an energetic, happy and very lovable baby. He loves to sleep with me and always under the blankets. My only options are to have the surgery, give him up to a shelter, which currently in Chicago there is a wait list for a no kill shelter or to euthanize him.    Time is of the  essence, since the longer his leg is in its current state the more intense surgery will be our even perhaps amputation.  As a veteran I know the importance of a pack unit. The bonds that develop between members of a pack are strong and when one losses a member of the pack the remaining members are never the same.  After serving  two tours in Iraq I know the ramifications of losing members. I do not want my pack to lose Merlin. I have no children  so he and his siblings are my children.  He is an integral part to not only to my other dogs but also to me. I could not imagine my life without him or my other dogs. Thank you for your consideration.
