Hello Family, Friends, & Colleagues:

This is Matthew Young with my wife Florencia Pech writing to you from our home in Falcon Heights, Minnesota. During the recent days, my wife Florencia has learned about devastating flooding that has afflicted her family's home in Merida, Yucatan State, Mexico.

Tropical Storm Cristobal has left in its wake a minimum of two feet of floodwater across much of the Yucatan, including at Florencia's parents home. This home is also now where four children ages 7 and younger, alongside three generations of her family live. Furthermore, the global COVID-19 pandemic closed down the restaurants and other businesses where Florencia's siblings can earn the primary incomes to support family life. The economic toll now compounded by the effects of flooding have left Florencia's family in truly dire straits for daily subsistence, let alone for long-term recovery.

Thus, I am calling on all of you to consider donating whatever amount you can towards supporting the financial relief of Florencia's family. Here's some perspective on your financial impact for Florencia's family:

-A $10 donation can supply up to 15 days' worth of cold/flu medications for her family;
-A $20 donation can supply more than 21 liters of milk, or more than 13 12-count cartons of eggs for her family;
-A $50 donation can cover the equivalent of three days' worth of wages for one of Florencia's siblings.

I think by now you can see how impactful your contribution can be. If you feel compelled to give, comment your interest below and I can directly, feel free to donate at this GoFundMe page or to send us cash or checks directly that we will wire to Florencia's brother, William.  Specifically, upon withdrawal in an aggregate amount from my Bank of America account, we will place these donated funds into one and at most two Moneygram remittance deliveries from Minnesota, USA to the Yucatan, Mexico. William will then withdraw from the Moneygram remittance deliveries and collaborate with his siblings on delegating the money for short-term and long-term expenses.

William has agreed to spending upwards of $2,500 of the $5,000 total raised to keep up with the daily food, water, and medicine needs for the Pech family through the course of the flooding and life in recovery afterwards. Furthermore, a portion of these funds will be targeted as "unemployment benefits" for Flor's siblings who are single parents with two children each in the immediate household. The remaining $2,500 of the $5,000 total William and family have agreed will be dedicated towards repairing water damage across their house, from floors to walls to ceilings and with plans underway for building a new roof spread across at least 50% of the roof area. It should be noted that the Pech family,  Florencia's family has no homeowner's insurance for their house in Merida, a not uncommon trend in Mexico and thus why her family is in heightened economic danger.

Thank you all for your consideration and support, stay healthy, stay safe, and stay connected!

With Love from Us in Minnesota Across the Globe,

Matt, Florencia, Jade, & Mateo Young Pech
