Save Elementary Strings in Victoria BC

THIS IS YOUR CHANCE! HELP SAVE THE ELEMENTARY STRINGS PROGRAM!

 

Victoria Confederation of Parent Advisory Councils (VCPAC) and Advocacy for Music in Schools (AMIS) needs your help! The Greater Victoria School District’s Board of Education, faced with a deficit budget, decided to cut funding for the entire elementary strings program for the 2022/23 school year. This short-sighted decision will negatively impact nearly 700 Grade 5 students in the district. This decision will have a damaging, trickle-down effect on our middle school and high school music programs for years to come.

 

IS THERE ANYTHING WE CAN DO TO CHANGE THIS DECISION?

YES!!! We are working with a foundation interested in helping save the elementary strings program for the 2022/23 school year. While the foundation's contribution is generous, we are calling upon the community to come up with the balance.

 

WE MUST ACT FAST!

 

The district has stipulated a deadline of the end of May to receive all funds. PLEASE share immediately with families and friends. All donations must be received by Tuesday, May 31.

 

Contributions will be held by the treasurer of the VCPAC until the end of May, and will then be transferred over to the District. 100% of all funds raised will go toward the Elementary Strings program.
