PLEASE, HELP SAVE CONNIE'S EYES

My best friend and roommate, Connie, has been diagnosed with macular degeneration. It came on suddenly when she woke up blind in her right eye. She went to the eye doctor and then an eye surgeon thinking her insurance would pay for some of the visit which was $850USD.

This morning, she got the horrific news that the insurance will pay none of it until the $3,000USD annual deductible is satisfied. Which means $850USD for the first month and $750USD for the next three months. Thereafter it's $350USD per month for injection treatments ($150USD per eye and $50USD for the office visit) until the end of 2018.

At the first of 2019 it then starts ALL OVER AGAIN because the $3,000USD deductible RENEWS! She’s already in debt for $850USD and will accrue $750USD per month thereafter until the $3000 deductible is met in 4 months, she will then have only six months of insurance coverage before having to satisfy the 2019 $3,000USD deductible which is only 9 months away.

It’s impossible for her to repay the debt on her credit card as well as making the out of pocket payments for the treatments to try to keep her eyesight. As it stands with over half her income going towards payments, and the remainder paying the rent there is no money left for food and utilities.

She is 61, if she retires early at 62, which won't be for another year, she takes a HUGE hit from her Social Security payments.

We are faced with being homeless and her living in serious poverty.  It’s a dire situation and we are in need of immediate financial help.

Our goal is to cover the cost of the $3000USD deductible and treatments that will help preserve Connie's eyesight for a year, including the funds for meeting some of the renewed 2019 deductable so she can keep working.
