The COVID19 pandemic has hit movie theatres especially hard this year. We are in the business of bringing people together in our small town movie theatre but the pandemic has brought that to a drastic halt. The Carson Stadium Cinemas doors were closed on 03/17/20 and after 3 months of being closed we were able to reopen at 25% capacity, face masks and social distancing seating measures. Being closed is the first hurdle we had to overcome and the second hurdle is the film studios have no new releases for us to return with when we can reopen. Looking ahead we are faced with two major challenges for survival: Studios are delaying all blockbusters movies until the spring and summer of 2021 because of the pandemic, so we have no movies to play on the big screen. Another challenge is that a majority of our loyal locals are not yet comfortable to return to the movie theatre because of COVID.
The Carson Stadium Cinemas face the very real possibility that we will have no new movies to show until the pandemic gets under control. We don’t expect the movie theatre industry to rebound until summer or fall of 2021. Currently we need our communities help to survive and keep our small town movie theatre in operation for the next six to nine months. We will use any money raised to pay for all operating expenses.
We love being a part of the Carson City community. We hope to weather this storm and look forward to the day when we can welcome our loyal locals and visitors back with a friendly family smile, delicious popcorn, first and second run blockbuster movies and bringing family and friends back together.
