Have you ever traveled somewhere, only to wish you could feel that there was a place close to home? California Republic Bar started three years ago as a love story of two passionate people. We, Chuck and Sasha, are partners in life and in business. We met in Prague and decided to create something that we can be proud of. We are both foreigners here in Czech Republic and we had the idea to connect people together – both expatriates and locals, and to become the meaningful place within our community. Also, we quickly formed a home away from home for many Americans living and working in Prague.
We have been working hard to create a place where people can be happy. This includes a bar with real atmosphere, events, karaoke, pub quizzes, live music, a welcoming and friendly staff, and a great selection of drinks and awesome American food. And we reached our goal! Our bar became a very special place for our guests – and we are not afraid to call them friends.
But now we are faced with a critical situation: we a closed due to COVID-19, and we are running out of cash to pay our rent, utilities, payroll, and other necessary expenditures. We also need to be sure that we will have enough cash on hand to open our bar again after the emergency situation is over.
And here we are – asking for your support. We had some emergency life savings, but they are already gone since our bar is now forcibly closed. The loans proposed by the government are not going to help us, as we can not take out a loan without any indication that we can be open any time soon and create any income to be able to pay them off. Like many other small and family businesses, we are reaching out with this fundraising campaign to save our place.
Funds given to this campaign will help to survive the pandemic and make sure we can keep our business alive and exist in Prague as long as the community will need a special place to come to and be welcomed.
We will be grateful for any amount you can share with us: every donation will help us to stay longer and gives us hope to survive and become reborn.
