Hello meet Bruno my life saver!!!
We are the Hutchings family...My name is Jerry Sr. I got Bruno 11 yrs ago as a companion dog after I suffered a massive heart attack in hopes Bruno could motivate me to take regular walks and exercise as requested by heart clinic team. Well Bruno did his job lol and then some. Thus called my life saver.
Bruno is now 11yrs old and always kept me exercising all these years and has filled our family and friends lives with lots of laughter and joy. Bruno loves being in everyone's business, camping, swimming, walking anywhere but beaches are his favorite place to hang out...see what a loving dog Bruno is and why he is so important to me and our family. What joy this beautiful dog has provided our family and everybody that he ever meet..nothing but big wet kisses from this loving guy from when he was a lil puppy.
Now Bruno needs your help to cover the cost of veterinary care for removal of lumps that are affecting the front leg and his ability to walk.
Here's what happened. On Saturday the 22nd of Sept. Bruno was lifting his paw off ground showing he was in discomfort ... the days prior to this we were at beach/park playing as usual no sign of pain or discomfort but on Saturday evening he definitely was not comfortable putting his paw fully on the ground. Sunday he just rested in home only limped out to peen n pooh no walking about. Monday morning we took Bruno to Vet first thing and he required bunch of exams/tests done right away so Bruno was at vets that day from 8 am til 5:15 pm and came home exhausted poor guy.
1st consultation Sept 24th 83.00
radio graph set up and 2 plates 246.00
radio graph ea plate 2 110.00 total 4 x rays
Sedation IV 99.00
comp diagnostic profile and CBC 145.00
thyroid function test- T4 add on 48.00
Medication to go home 150.00
Take FNA biopsy samples 243.00
tax 151.00
$1,275.00 initial tests and exams
2 x rays Oct 3rd 123.00 additional x rays
the cost to examine the x rays 88.00
$1,386.00 to date Oct 3/18
During the exam the Dr. found a group of small lumps in Bruno's front left armpit and said removal from this location could involve amputating the leg if there is cancer present however there are other options if no cancer. Depends on results of biopsy samples taken from area. I pray this is not the case. UPDATE: Veterinary clinic called on Sat. Sept. 29th/2018 ... and we two great news regarding Bruno's outlook!
1st) the FNA biopsy results came back negative for cancer in the lumps!!!
2nd) The Dr. explained because the lumps are benign they can be safely removed without Amputating Bruno's leg.
However b4 any thought of surgery further examination of the ex rays by a radiologist needed to be done. Bruno had 2 an additional x rays done on Oct. 3rd of his front ankle area to see if something there is causing the pain .
We got call from vet on Friday Oct. 12th and the review of Bruno's x rays came back showing no signs of bone cancer plus everything else looked OK on all x rays. It looks more and more like the lumps are the reason Bruno is not using that leg. So vet said that surgery to remove lumps should be scheduled for near future.
Bruno's surgery has been re-scheduled for Nov. 20th/2018 that day we hope to go ahead as we are now very close to having enough funds to proceed.
Here is breakdown of the surgery cost coming up.
Currently Bruno coping on three legs and is resting at home. He is getting his pain medications as instructed and now we await to do the surgery. This situation is tearing me apart because my present health condition has involved trips to the Toronto General Hospital over the past year n half meeting with the heart transplant team headed by Dr. McDonald they are preparing me for the transplant that I will soon require. My condition prevents me from working and earning the money to help Bruno in his time of need. I hate asking for help but we have done all we can financially..I am on disability because of my health so any help is greatly appreciated.
*****UPDATE DEC. 27TH 2018 *****
Hello everyone here is a one month update after Bruno's surgery on the 24th November Bruno had 4 lumps removed successfully WITHOUT having to amputate the leg!!! Tthe tumors were of aggressive nature wanting to attach to bone and muscle but were removed and now Bruno has been coming around nicely. The first week a drain for access fluid was closely watch as it drained a lot of fluids for almost a week before its removal. Bruno didn't feel like doing much during that time. As soon as it was out he felt much better and started moving about better. Two weeks later Bruno had the 18 staples removed at the vets they said he and the recovery was going very well! Bruno has improved daily and so has his ability to get around! He uses the affected leg now approx 50% of the time the other he holds paw off the ground. However i notice everyday Bruno lil walks around the property are getting longer and longer as he ventures around more :) tyvm again for all the support i have too now been getting out everyday as b4 with my lil biddy for some fresh air and exercise ty again from the entire family!
