An eight-year-old boy spent over a year being put in daily isolation at his old school. He ate lunch late as punishment. He ended every day dreading the next. His teachers couldn't handle his spirited personality, so they became his bullies. Then he transferred to Bridges. Within months, he was waking up excited for class. Today, he protests when his dad picks him up — because he doesn't want to leave school.
His story is not the exception. It is the pattern. Bridges Tutorial & Learning Center has been transforming children's lives in Baguio City, Philippines for nearly three decades. Founded in 1996 as a tutorial center and established as an elementary school in 2000, it is one of the only schools in the region that accepts children with disabilities and special learning needs — kids who've been turned away, overlooked, or failed by conventional schools.
Every child here is known by name. No one gets given up on. After five years of pandemic-era losses, the school needs support to secure its future and continue its mission. We need to find a new home, cover the upfront costs of relocation, and reach 120–150 enrolled students to stay financially viable.
Every peso, every dollar, every share gets us closer. You don't have to know these children to care about them. You just have to believe that a school that turns a child who hates learning into a child who loves it is worth keeping.
