"Sassy" Nisa has had a lifetime of medical obstacles she had endured and overcome. Most recently on Thursday of last week a new obstacle hit our family and shook it up. After 2 ambulance trips and being admitted to CHKD she was now also diagnosed with Epilepsy.
We are now in the process of getting her rehabilitation/physical therapy and training her medical alert dog . This child has several other medical conditions that we have learned to manage and most of those do not cause random episodes of violent seizures. Nisa "Sassy" is a free spirited, athletic child full of life and we want her to be able to continue living and enjoying her childhood in the safest environment possible. Medical alert dogs are not cheap to obtain nor train. We have researched and are seeking the best possible options.
Having a dog that can alert us of an approaching seizure, and is trained to help break her fall if she is standing or out in public will mean a huge difference in her ability to remain safe when a seizure hits.
