Unsere liebe Freundin Saskia ist seit dem 1. Juni diesen Jahres mit einer aus heiterem Himmel diagnostizierten Akuten Leukämie im Krankenhaus und als wäre das alleine nicht schrecklich genug, haben eine Reihe von Komplikationen bei ihrer Behandlung nun auch noch dazu geführt, dass sie im septischen Schock auf der Intensivstation gelandet ist.

 

 

Die Akute Leukämie ist eine Blutkrebserkrankung, die spontan auftritt und unbehandelt innerhalb weniger Wochen oder Monate zun Tod führt. Es gibt mittlerweile, der Wissenschaft sei dank, äußerst vielversprechende Therapiemethoden, um gegen diese Krankheit vorzugehen. Der Weg ist sehr lang und anstrengend und führt über eine Reihe intensivster Chemo- und Strahlentherapien höchstwahrscheinlich zur Stammzelltransplantation, an die sich weitere chemotherapeutische Behandlungen anschließen. Standardmäßig umfasst der Therapieplan von Saskias Erkrankung einen Zeitraum von 18 Monaten.

 

Mit den Standards können wir nun leider nicht mehr rechnen, denn welche Auswirkungen ihr Aufenthalt auf der Intensivstation auf ihren Behandlungsverlauf haben wird, ist noch nicht abzusehen - nur so viel ist klar: sie werden immens sein.

 

 

Ein septischer Schock ist eine höchst dramatische und akut lebensgefährliche Situation, meist ausgelöst durch eine sich unkontrolliert im Körper verbreitende Infektion, die zum Ausfall eines oder, wie in Saskias Fall, mehrerer Organe führen kann - Notoperationen, künstliches Koma, dauerhafte Wiederbelebungsmaßnahmen schließen sich dann an.

 

Bevor die aktive Krebstherapie wieder aufgenommen werden kann, steht Saskia eine lange, anstrengede Phase der Rekonvaleszenz bevor, über deren Art und Dauer sich noch nicht viel sagen lässt.

 

 

Wir könnten unendlich viele Worte darunter verlieren, wie sehr wie sie lieben, was für eine hochintelligente, brillante junge Frau da aus heiterem Himmel von einem unfassbar brutalen Schicksalsschlag getroffen und aus dem Leben gerissen wurde, wie viel Angst wir um sie haben, wie dringend wir ihr helfen wollen und es nicht können!

Wer Saskia kennt, weiß, was für ein lebenserfüllter, überbordender, starker und schöner sie Mensch ist. Wer sie nicht kennt: glaubt es uns einfach und schaut euch die Fotos an.

 

 

Ihr Leben liegt nun erst mal für geraume Zeit in den Händen der Ärzte und selbst wenn sie so weit ist, das Krankenhaus wieder zu verlassen, wird es voraussichtlich lange Zeit dauern, bis sie "so richtig wieder hergestellt" ist.

 

Hierbei möchten wir sie so gut es geht unterstützen und ihr wenigstens im materiellen Bereich Ängste und Sorgen abnehmen. Ausserdem wollen wir natürlich, dass sie es in dieser extrem harten und hässlichen Zeit so schön wie möglich haben kann.

 

Aus diesem Grund haben wir diese Kampagne gestartet.

Our dearest friend Saskia is in the hospital since 1st of June this year with acute leukemia diagnosed out of the blue. As if that alone weren't terrible enough a number of complications during her medical treatment have now also led her in a septic shock and she ended up in the intensive care unit.

 

 

Acute leukemia is a blood cancer that occurs spontaneously and, if left untreated, leads to death within a few weeks or months. Thanks to science, there are now extremely promising therapeutic methods to combat this disease. The path is very long and arduous, and will most likely lead through a series of intensive chemotherapy and radiation therapies to stem cell transplantation, which will be followed by further chemotherapeutic treatments. The standard treatment plan for Saskia's disease covers a period of 18 months.

 

Unfortunately, we can no longer count on the standards, because the effects of her stay in the intensive care unit will have on the course of her treatment can't yet be foreseen - only one thing is clear: they will be immense.

 

A septic shock is a highly dramatic and acutely life-threatening situation, usually triggered by an uncontrolled infection of the body that can lead to the failure of one or, as in Saskia's case, several organs - emergency surgery, artificial coma, and permanent resuscitation measures follow.

Before the active cancer therapy can be resumed Saskia faces a long strenuous phase of convalescence. Unfortunately we can't say much about the type and the duration of that yet.

 

 

We could lose an infinite number of words about how much we love her. A highly intelligent, brilliant young woman was struck out of the blue by an incredibly brutal stroke of fate and torn from her life. We are worried about her and want to help her so bad but can only do this to a certain extent.

Anyone who met Saskia knows what a life-filled, exuberant, strong and beautiful person she is. If you don't know her: Just believe us and take a look at the photos!

 

Her life is now in the hands of the doctors for a long time and even if she is ready to leave the hospital it will probably take a long time before she is "properly restored". We would like to support her as much as possible and at least relieve her of fears and worries in the material area. And of course we also want her to have it as good as possible during these extremely hard and ugly times.
