Sarge’s emergency hospitalization in ICU

Hi! I’m Jenna, Sarge’s human. Wednesday afternoon Sarge was unexpectedly admitted into the ICU at MedVet with aspiration pneumonia. His right lung was in pretty bad shape and needed to be monitored closely since he was coughing up blood and it was challenging to breathe. He was released this afternoon with medication and is getting more radiographs on Monday. He is still sick but I’m monitoring him closely. My bill very quickly reached $2,700 in one day. Monday he is getting more X-rays and ultrasounds to make sure his lung is healing and there’s not torsion. He still has a ways to go with healing. Normally I wouldn’t ask for help but I’m a flight attendant who hasn’t been able to work in a year due to the fact I that I’ve had 3 major surgeries on my hip and groin in to correct hip dysplasia and labral tear in my right hip. I’m living on disability and struggling financially due to having 2 additional surgeries from complications from my first one. I’m still rehabbing due to complications & still can’t return to flying yet. I’ve had to relearn how to walk again, and have spent a total 5 months in the past 12 either using a walker or crutches. Sarge has been my rock during these tough times when I felt like giving up, but his resiliency inspired me to never quit even when I felt like everything was stacked against me. I was devastated when Sarge had to be hospitalized. Sarge is truly one of the most special dogs I’ve ever met. I say he’s my soul dog all the time. There’s no doubt that we were meant to find each other. I absolutely wouldn’t have been able to get through my surgeries without him. Any small amount helps since he still is fighting pneumonia and will need additional vet visits to ensure he’s in the clear. We need his lungs to heal so he can start howling and talking again!
