Help Sarah Kick Cancers Ass

Battle of a Lifetime

Sarah was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma on December 1, 2014. Here is her story:

"It all started after a co-worker insisted I go to the Dr. because of a lump the right side of my neck. Her son had recently been diagnosed with Lymphoma and was enduring chemo treatments. She said, "This is how it started for my son". Obviously worried, I went to my Dr. and she assured me it was NOT lymphoma just an inflamed muscle. Some weeks went by and I developed a cough and some more nodules near my collarbone. Back to the Dr. I went, this time – Allergies. After weeks and weeks of coughing and hacking I went back and demanded better answers. She then agreed to refer me to the Ear, Nose & Throat Dr. After some tests he confirmed allergies were not the cause of my swollen lymph nodes and removed one node for biopsy. The results came back quickly and confirmed Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. I couldn’t believe the words I was hearing, bewildered I asked if it could be anything else and he replied “not likely”.

Here I am almost 30 years old and have cancer. This was not how I pictured the next chapter of my life starting. But through the encouragement of family and friends I am trying to remain positive. However, I did have ONE major concern… FERTILITY.  I have no children but was planning on starting a family very soon. With my time running out I knew I had to act fast. After finally meeting with the Oncologist and the Fertility Specialist, Chemo needs to begin right away and I do not have time to freeze my eggs prior to treatment. However, there is hope at the end of the tunnel, I can do the procedure during my first round of chemo. So that’s getting the chemo and also taking hormone injections twice a day and at the end of two weeks a surgery that they will hopefully be able to do if my blood counts are good enough. YES, I know this is going to be EXPENSIVE and NO, my insurance does not cover it. But this is so important to me and cancer is robbing my chances of having a normal future. However, I remain hopeful that going through this will be worth it since you cant put a price on a child. I WILL be cured and I WILL have my family!”

I set up this fund to help not only with the daunting cost of chemo treatments, dr's visits and medications but also the hope that one day Sarah gets the family she deserves.  Please send your prayers, well wishes, comments and words of encouragement as she kicks cancers A**!
