Hello family!!
Ever since I can remember, I've been performing. Many of you were present for my first performances in the middle of living rooms, by fireplaces or on swing sets. All these years of hard work (and your support!) have finally paid off. I've recently reached a milestone in my career: I've been presented the opportunity to join the Actor's Equity Association! Joining this union will (finally!) make me a "professional" actor in the eyes of the industry, though I've been working professionally for years.
The term "starving artist" has taken on a new meaning for me as of late. I don't mind telling you that, as a Non-Union member, I've taken roles that pay anywhere between $150 and $400 per week. Earning that kind of money while trying to live in one of the most expensive cities in the world is no easy task, and has led to some of the most trying times of my life.
Good news is, when I'm protected by a Union, the wages will increase, as will the quality of work!
Here's where you come in! In order to join the Union, I will owe an initiation fee of $1,200. I'm asking for your help to cover this cost. This amount goes up $500 in January of 2018 for new members, so you can imagine that I am anxious to pay the fee in November when I am AEA eligible.
If I am fortunate enough to raise more than my goal, any additional funds will be put in a separate account and used for classes, lessons, head shots, all the things we actors desperately crave but cannot often afford!I have one of the most supportive families around; I'm so lucky to have you all behind me. I am humbled by your constant encouragement and love. Thank you for everything you've done and continue to do.
