Today Sarah Enfield took her last breath here on earth and her very next breath in the presence of the Lord. Heaven became so much sweeter! She is already missed by her family and friends.
Her illness started in May when she received the diagnosis of lung cancer.  She was prepared to fight hard.   It wasn't until 6 weeks later that she started her first round of radiation therapy and chemo, which made her very sick.  After her 2nd round of chemo she went into the hospital with congestive heart failure and the doctor told them that she couldn't do chemo anymore, that it was just to hard on her heart.   It seems  unreal but those 2 treatments of chemo and 6 rounds of radiation was all that was needed.  Kathi shared such amazing news in September that the pet scan revealed NO MORE CANCER!!! Everyone was elated and so thankful for such great news.
Fast forward to the weekend before Thanksgiving. Sarah was really weak and started having difficulty breathing.  She didn't want to go, but eventually decided it was best and went to the hospital by ambulance.  She was admitted and treated for pneumonia.  She did come home with oxygen and was doing well for a few days. Then she seemed to relapse and over the course of 2 weeks she made 2 more trips to the ER by ambulance,  with the 2nd trip being sent home the same day.  This last 11 days have been so difficult.  How did Sarah go from doing better and eating out with family one minute to being  re-admitted to Cardiac ICU and being told that the aggressive treatment has not helped and she is terminal in the next minute?
Sarah was born and raised in Georgia but for the last 27 years, she has lived here in Florida with Kathi, her only daughter and Meadow and Levi, two of her grandchildren. Kathi had to help her Mom make some hard decisions. Sarah was alert and focused and her heart was ready to meet the Lord. She told Kathi she was tired of feeling like she was suffocating.  She decided that it was time for hospice. As of this afternoon, she is not struggling anymore.
All of these days spent by her Mom's side have deprived Kathi of a paycheck.  She's a single parent, a devoted daughter, and she would not have changed a single thing,  except to have her sweet Mama here, but she could use some help right now. She wouldn't ask, so I'm asking for her.
It's Christmas time, things are tight for everyone, but if you could spare something to help alleviate the stress of her not working and to help with the cost of a memorial,  I know she would be grateful.  Sarah would appreciate it also.  Thank you in Advance!
