Sarah Baker's Road to Recovery
It is with a great deal of humility and a heavy heart that I do something I never thought I would do; start a GoFundMe for myself or immediate family.
For over two and a half years, my wife, Sarah Baker, has been battling a neurological condition that has taken multiple hospital visits, countless doctors, specialists, and imaging visits, and over $30,000 in out-of-pocket medical debt to diagnose. We recently started getting some answers from UT Southwestern Medical Center, and there is a potential for a full recovery through a long treatment and rehabilitation process. This recovery plan will require numerous specialist and rehab appointments every month, and it could take years to see significant improvements. With the potential for a full recovery and an amazing care team on our side, we must find a way to make this work. However, several of these specialists do not take our insurance, or have significant out-of-pocket expenses associated with them. While there is no way to know the exact cost, it is likely to be over $15,000.00 per year.
It was a very difficult decision to swallow my pride and start this GoFundMe for Sarah. But I would do anything for my amazing wife. If that means asking for help from my family, friends, and our great community, that is what I will do. I guarantee that every penny raised will go to Sarah’s recovery plan and medical bills.
I know this is a hard time for a lot of people. Give if you can, but take care of you and yours first. If you are able to give a little, Sarah, our boys, my family, and I will be forever grateful for your generosity. And those that know us well know that we will give it back 10-fold to the community in whatever way we can.
Forever grateful,
Wayne Baker, Jr.
