Sara Smith Memorial Fund

On Thursday, December 5th, my sister, Sara Smith, lost her battle with addiction. It’s been a long and hard journey. My sister was loving, compassionate, and funny. Often those characteristics were masked by her addiction. There were times throughout her journey that’d I’d get a glimpse of my real sister in the midst of her battle. For me, that was a glimpse of the relationship I’ll have with her for eternity.

What I am certain of is that my sister knew Christ. Because of this, I know that she is not just in our past, but in our future. That is the hope that all of us have in Christ. We will see her again and when we do we will have an absolute blast together with her for eternity.

Thank you to each of you who loved my sister well throughout her journey. Her life was transformed because of it.

In lieu of flowers, we’ve set up a GoFundMe account for her two sons, Brody and Kamden. All the money raised will be invested for their future.

Who you are and your relationship to the family/intended recipient:

I was Sara's brother and I am Brody and Kamden (the recipients) Uncle. 

How the funds will be spent:

We will be opening an UTMA account for Brody and Kamden and split the total funds raised. I, Doug Smith, will be the Custodian on the account. All money donated will be used for Brody and Kamden's future and at the appropriate time. We will use the money for their college (if applicable), a vehicle, a downpayment on a house, a wedding, etc. 

Your withdrawal plan to get the funds from the campaign to the family/intended recipient:

Because both recipients are minors, I will be opening the UTMA's with the funds raised and making them the beneficiaries of them.
