"Toys" for Teens!

Donation protected
This is the time of year that people stress because of the holidays. Especially this year, more and more families are feeling the pain of worrying about providing their children the bare essentials like food and shelter. Stack on top of that, there's the stress of giving your children the chance at having a Merry Christmas.

About 10 years ago, my wife and I started helping out by picking stars off the tree at the local Wal Mart. Each star was the Christmas list of children who lived nearby. I will never forget the first star I ever picked up, the child's Christmas list was a sweatshirt and a pair of jeans. This broke me. The fact that a child wanted something so simple for Christmas made me realize how tough it is for a child to grow up with not having a lot.

Each year my wife and I would pick more and more stars to help more kids. It was never a lot, maybe $200 total. Then one year it hit us that the max age for kids on the tree was 12 years old. We started thinking about the teenagers who were forgotten, kids in high school who deal with more pressures than we will ever know. By not having  nice clothes, they face ridicule from their peers.

So my wife and I are looking to help local teenagers have basic name-brand clothes so they can feel normal during this year. Yes our goal of $2,500 seems high, but I always say: "Go big or go home!" The more money we raise, the more teenagers we can help.

Every little bit helps! Happy Holidays, Friends!
