Sandra Gorham Memorial Fund

Sandra Gorham was born in Denver, Colorado. She grew up in tough times back in the 1950's, she was raised by a Single mother with her siblings and times were pretty tough. She would eventually have her first child at 18, a baby named Gilbert, then in the 80's she had her 2nd child Nicole and her baby boy Cliff. She worked hard to raise her 3 children and in that struggle she was introduced to drugs and went on a spiral down, losing everything, a great job a Hughes Aircraft, a new car and her home. Having hit bottom she made the decision to move up to Portland to make a clean break from all the influences that contributed to her drug use. She was able to break free from the drugs and get clean and stay clean for over 20 years. Sandra always had a big heart for people and in her own daily walk with sobriety, she realized she wanted to help others. She started out working for the City and providing assistance with transporting families to counseling appointments and other appointments to get clean and to regain custody of their children. her ultimate goal was to become a licensed Drug and Alchohol Counselor. She past her final exam last week and her dream had come true. She was always a simple person not acquiring much in regards to wealth, her gift was helping others as a sponsor and advocate. She has helped to change hundreds of lives and will be deeply missed.
