Samwad Shala in Lonavala, India
Donation protected
One of my favorite parts of going back to India is visiting Samwad Shala, a school for mentally/physically disabled and underprivileged children – one of the most vulnerable populations especially in underdeveloped countries. I first became involved in volunteering for Samwad as my great aunt and uncle are board members for the school. Despite the struggle these children face on a daily basis, they have a gift of gracing others with happiness and love and showcasing what a difference a smile can make. In our recent trips, my family and I provided Samwad with funding to start their own library, to purchase school supplies, and to sponsor scholarships for some children. In this season of giving, I’d like to request that you consider a donation to Samwad. Last December, I was thoroughly humbled by the response to this fundraiser – I started with a goal of $200 to sponsor one child and some school supplies but, through the generosity of all my Deloitte colleagues and friends, we raised a humbling $1406.11 in one week which sponsored ten children for the previous school year!
This year, we I have set a goal of $1200. A donation of $143 sponsors one child’s annual tuition, transportation, and school supplies. It would mean so much to me if you would please consider donating to this cause. Any amount will be beyond appreciated and will benefit the school more than we know.
