Samoa Hurricane Gita Relief

Donation protected
The people of Samoa have been adversely affected by Hurricane Gita . They have been declared in a state of disaster. Hundreds have lost their homes and all of their belongings; even more have seen their crops and land destroyed. For many, agriculture is the family’s only source of food and/or income.
We have a special place in our hearts for the beautiful island of Samoa and her people. Steven served a proselyting mission for our church in Samoa and lived there for about two years; he currently teaches Samoan to missionaries called to serve in Samoan speaking areas. We had the opportunity to visit Samoa just six months ago with Steven’s parents. It was such a humbling trip; many live in impoverished areas and have little belongings. And yet, these wonderful people are so quick to give and serve. <3

We desperately want to do something to help these people. We are looking to raise around $5000 to take a humanitarian trip to Samoa. We are looking at about $4000 in travel costs for one week in Samoa; during that time, we will be delivering first aid and hygiene kits, clothing, bedding, and cooking supplies, as well as helping families rebuild homes and clean up their lands.  All leftover funds raised will go toward purchasing food, bedding, etc. for families.

We do not necessarily have a set date for this humanitarian trip; obviously, the sooner we are able to raise the funds, the better. As we are married university students, our funds are somewhat tight; we will be contributing as much as we can to our traveling expenses, but again, the sooner we are able to travel to Samoa to serve, the better.

Every dollar helps. Skip your soda or coffee today and donate your caffeine dollars instead. If you truly feel like you cannot donate monetarily at this time, that’s ok. We will be accepting donations as well. If you are local, please contact me if you have any of the following to give:
